Chris Schutte with the Anchorage Downtown Partnership presented ACA’s Rod Pfleiger with this year’s Ship Creek Landing Award.

Anchorage Downtown Partnership recognized the Alaska Cruise Association and John Binkley with the 2010 Ship Creek Landing Award at the Heart of Anchorage Awards March 27.

The Ship Creek Award is one of six awards given annually. It represents an entrepreneur starting a new business that has added a dynamic new element to Downtown Anchorage. Rod Pfleiger accepted this award on behalf of Binkley.

Rod thanked the Partnership for all it has done and is doing to make Downtown warm and inviting for Anchorage’s cruise passengers. He also expressed appreciation for how supportive the Partnership has been on issues facing the cruise lines here in Alaska, and its efforts to make certain Alaska has a friendly business climate for the cruise lines.

Holland America’s Amsterdam will call at the Port of Anchorage this summer and Rod thanked Mayor Dan Sullivan, the Partnership, Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Port for taking steps to make this a very successful Port of Call.
