Holland America Line is promoting 29 cruise-tours in Alaska during 2009, the state’s 50th anniversary.
The offerings combine an Inside Passage sailing with a land program for a package of 10 to 20 days. Land travel is aboard domed McKinley Explorer rail cars, and a number of the tours feature custom-built, highway Explorer Coaches with luxury amenities. Itineraries and optional excursions encompass 14 national parks and wilderness areas such as Denali, Glacier Bay, Kluane, Tombstone, the Kenai Fjords, Gates of the Arctic, Klondike (Skagway), Wrangell-St. Elias and Sitka national parks, among others.
A total of 20 tours feature “Double Denali,” two nights at a classic wilderness lodge near the gates of Denali National Park, plus a guided Tundra Wilderness Tour offering wildlife and superior Mount McKinley viewpoints. Cruise-tours start at $1,299 per person, double occupancy.
