August 2016 The cruise ship Le Soleal made an unexpected call on Cordova the end of July when rough weather forced it out of the Gulf of Alaska. The ship notified Cordova’s harbormaster in mid-morning that it would anchor in Orca Bay that afternoon and tender passengers to shore. The tourists were able to visit the Cordova Center, including the library and museum reception gallery and see Darla Church’s 3-D mural of Child’s Glacier. Some shops were able to open, including Copper River Fleece, the Net Loft, Cordova Gear and Steen’s Gifts. Photo from Cordova Facebook
