Alaska’s booming cruise sector is spurring growth across Alaska’s visitor industry, even into the farthest reaches of interior Alaska. Family-owned Denali Grizzly Bear Resort & Campground is building new rooms to accommodate the ever-increasing number of cruise ship passengers that make Denali National Park a part of their Alaska vacation.
“We appreciate our partnership with the cruise industry,” said Scott Reisland, General Manager, Denali Grizzly Bear Resort & Campground. “Ten years ago, we got very little cruise business but over the past decade we have grown with the cruise industry and are proud to say that cruise ship passengers love our resort.”
An additional 27 new rooms will be available by the start of the tourism season in mid-May. Special attention was made during the design and construction process to give each guestroom a full view of Mount Fellows and the surrounding mountains, unobstructed by parking lots or other buildings at the resort. Rooms in the other buildings have spectacular views of mountains or the Nenana River. The resort is going the extra mile to preserving the picture-perfect scenery by burying most of the powerlines on the property.
When the $3.5 million expansion is done, Denali Grizzly Bear Resort and Campground will have a total of 119 rooms, 33 cabins and a small campground.
